Both tools use high-precision performance.now() timing. The countdown timer tracks elapsed time via a fixed end-timestamp, so it stays accurate even in background tabs.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this stopwatch?

Uses performance.now() with sub-millisecond precision. Display refreshes every animation frame (~16ms). Accuracy is within ±5ms — sufficient for all practical timing.

Does the countdown work in background tabs?

Yes. The timer stores a fixed end-timestamp (performance.now() + duration). When you return, the remaining time is calculated from that timestamp — not interval counting. Background throttling doesn't affect accuracy.

What is the Pomodoro technique?

Work focused for 25 minutes, 5-minute break. After 4 Pomodoros, take a 15-30 minute long break. It creates urgency, reduces mental fatigue, and makes large tasks approachable by breaking them into small timed chunks.
